Humans experience a vast array of emotions compared to other animals, Gawdat argues, because our superior intellect allows us to comprehend nuanced feelings. So in his view, greater intelligence enables greater consciousness.
Gawdat believes that as AI inevitably becomes far smarter than humans, it may feel emotions beyond anything we can imagine - making AI potentially more conscious than humans could ever be.
